In a beautiful setting in Northfield Vermont, with lively programming and first-rate food, we bring warmth, fun and compassion to our seniors who choose the ease, friendship and security of an assisted-living elder community.
Mayo’s Residential Care services include three daily meals, plus snacks throughout the day, and laundry and housekeeping services. We have a registered nurse on duty five days each week, to provide overview of nursing services. Round-the-clock staffing provides 45 minutes of direct care within each 24-hour period. (After the initial 45 minutes of care, services will be billed at tiered rates.)
Our Residential Care facility is set in a rural valley in Central Vermont, with a shady courtyard and lovely perennial and vegetable gardens. Residents can stroll, enjoy the fresh air, and visit outdoors with friends and family.
We bring in live music and host frequent special events, and our van whisks residents into area towns for shopping, activities, doctor appointments and outings. The nearby Vermont communities of Montpelier, Barre and Waterbury offer theater, concerts, cafés, specialty shops and distinctive dining. The lakeside city of Burlington is less than an hour away.
Private Rooms & Warm Gathering Spaces
We offer 44 private rooms, each with a half-bath and alcove entry. Sunshine brightens every room, through picture windows overlooking our gardens or the Paine Mountain range. All rooms receive weekly housekeeping and laundry services.

Our exercise programs, therapies and activities are built on research into how seniors can remain active, maintain healthy muscles and bones, keep their balance, and continue doing what they love. Our music, art, craft and social activities invite every resident to be as busy and involved as they desire.
Fresh, Homemade Food for Residents & Guests
Our dining room, overlooking the garden, serves delicious meals every day. Local farm products are part of our regular menu. Our culinary school-trained chef proudly offers fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables, plus wonderful, home-cooked baked goods made the old-fashioned way — from scratch.
