A Personalized Conversation

When you meet with our Admissions Coordinator, you’ll be invited to ask questions and to share whatever might be helpful to discuss. We know this can be a complex, sometimes difficult transition. No matter where you are in your decision-making process, our goal is to help you make the best choice for this time, for you and your family. We invite you to see Mayo as both a resource and a partner as you weigh options and choices.

Music & Laughter

We’ll also look forward to showing you around! You may find some surprises. You’ll almost always hear music, conversation and laughter, and are likely to smell fresh-baked goods from our kitchens. If it’s a bright day you’ll see lots of sunlight pouring in through our many windows.

We’ll show you our private and semi-private rooms. Each has a personal appeal, often with furniture, decorations and mementos from the resident’s home. Every room has WiFi and a large window, with fine views of our gardens or the Paine Mountain range.

Out in the courtyard, in the warm months you’ll see our perennial gardens and awning-shaded courtyard. Residents will often be out there, puttering, visiting or taking in the sun. Gardeners may be edging, mulching, trimming. We have barbecues outdoors all summer long. We even host Circus Smirkus, Vermont’s wonderful youth performing-arts program, for exciting summer shows.

Conversations & Fresh-Made Food

Back indoors, you’ll see our residents walking with therapists or staff, to and from activities. You may see them visiting in our several lounges, or spending time with families. We work closely with families to design a resident’s plan of care, and family members often drop by.

You may catch one of the many live music events we bring to Mayo every month. You might spot an art workshop, or see our Bone Builders group doing light, guided exercise with hand weights. You could drop by a book club discussing their latest read, or see residents playing cards or doing puzzles together.

Please let us treat you to a delicious lunch! You’ll find that our dining room is lively and friendly, with many residents eating together at tables. All our meals feature home-cooked food, very often with fresh, local vegetables and fruits to savor.

After the tour, if you’d like to talk some more, that’s what we’ll do. We’ll answer all your questions, clearly and carefully. We’ll take the time to help you make the right choice, at the right time, whatever that may be.
