Shark Week Is Making Waves at Mayo Healthcare!

We’re diving into an exciting week of ocean adventures as we celebrate Shark Week at Mayo!

Residents will explore fascinating shark facts, create shark-themed crafts and decorations, enjoy fun games and activities, and even follow real sharks from around the world using the OCEARCH Global Shark Tracker. It’s a unique way to learn about these incredible creatures while watching their real-time movements through the ocean.

From delicious shark-themed cups and creative projects to trivia, games, and plenty of laughs, this week is packed with hands-on fun, learning, and opportunities.

It’s sure to be a fintastic week!

National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day

There’s nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies filling the air!

This National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, our residents will be taking a delicious trip to Australia as we bake a special family recipe generously shared by one of our wonderful residents. We’re honored that she has entrusted us with a recipe that holds special memories, and we can’t wait to mix, bake, and enjoy every sweet bite together.

At Mayo Healthcare, some of the best activities are the ones that bring people together through cherished traditions, meaningful stories, and recipes passed down through generations. We know this special treat will be filled with laughter, memories, and plenty of warm cookies fresh from the oven.

Homemade Ice Cream

Nothing says summer quite like homemade ice cream!

Join us as we roll up our sleeves and make fresh, old-fashioned homemade ice cream right in the jar. From shaking the ingredients to watching them transform into a cool, creamy treat, this hands-on activity is sure to bring back fond memories of summers gone by.

There’s something special about making ice cream the traditional way.  We can’t wait to enjoy this refreshing summertime favorite, fresh from the jar, with our residents. Here’s to sweet treats, smiling faces, and making the most of summer at Mayo Healthcare!

National S'more Day

We’re gathering around to celebrate National S’mores Day with one of everyone’s favorite campfire treats. Residents will enjoy roasting marshmallows, layering them with chocolate and graham crackers, and creating the perfect gooey s’more.

For many, s’mores bring back memories of family camping trips, summer evenings by the fire, and time spent with loved ones. It’s the perfect opportunity to reminisce, share stories, and enjoy the simple pleasures of summer together.

Summer Carnival at Mayo

Step right up for an afternoon of summertime fun!

Our courtyard will come alive as we celebrate with a classic Summer Carnival featuring delicious hot dogs with all the fixings, fun carnival games, and live music for everyone to enjoy.

Residents, families, and staff are invited to soak up the sunshine, share a meal, sing along to familiar tunes, and make wonderful summer memories together. From laughter and friendly competition to great food and music, it’s the perfect way to celebrate the season.

August 17 - 21, 2026

All Aboard for Cruise Week at Mayo

Pack your bags, it’s time to set sail! Our residents will be embarking on an exciting week-long cruise adventure, visiting a new “port of call” each day as we explore different cultures, foods, music, and activities from around the world.

🛳️ August 17 – Port of Italy
We’ll kick off our voyage with Cruise Jazzercise to get everyone moving, followed by a relaxing Paint & Sip activity and a delicious Italian-inspired lunch.

🌴 August 18 – Port of Jamaica
It’s time to add a splash of color as residents create their own tie-dye T-shirts while enjoying the vibrant island spirit of Jamaica.

✨ August 19 – Port of Hollywood
Residents will enjoy our elegant Cruise Luncheon, Champagne Wishes & Caviar Dreams, followed by a glamorous Pearl Party where everyone will be adorned with beautiful pearls fit for a cruise celebration.

🌍 August 20 – Port of Africa
Our travelers will head out on a special Cruise Week excursion as we discover the beauty and culture of Africa.

🍋 August 21 – Port of Key West, Florida
We’ll wrap up our unforgettable voyage with a stop in sunny Key West for a delicious Key lime dessert party, the perfect sweet ending to an amazing week at sea!

From themed activities and delicious cuisine to music, laughter, and adventure, Cruise Week is one of our favorite summer traditions. We can’t wait to make lasting memories as we explore the world together, without ever leaving Mayo Healthcare!

Wheel Wash Day at Mayo

It’s time to shine!

Our annual Wheel Wash Day is back, and we’re ready to give everything a sparkling clean. Residents and staff will help wash wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility equipment, while enjoying a friendly water fight.

This cheerful summertime tradition is about more than just getting things clean, it’s an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, share plenty of laughs, and take pride in the things that help keep us moving every day.
