Danielle Nickerson Promoted to Assistant Administrator
Small, independent healthcare facility retains flexibility to invest in staff and people.
Danielle Nickerson, Assistant Administrator, Mayo Healthcare
Danielle Nickerson, LNHA, of Bethel, has advanced to the position of assistant administrator at Mayo Healthcare in Northfield. Danielle will assist with oversight of Mayo’s staffing, financial administration, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Mayo Healthcare offers residential care and assisted living, skilled nursing, continuing care, and rehabilitation services. The healthcare facility helps patients remain as independent as possible.
Danielle’s path to assistant administrator is reflective of Mayo’s culture of investing in people. She began her career at Mayo in human resources as a payroll clerk three years ago. The organization’s advancement program, along with steadfast support from her supervisors and peers, propelled Danielle on a path to become an administrator-in-training. Ten months and 1,000 hours of study later, she had completed her national and state exams to become a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and take on a new role as the assistant administrator at Mayo.
Danielle says that when she was first approached by Administrator Tim McAdoo to advance in her career, she was a little hesitant. “It was a good opportunity, and I knew that advancing as an LNHA would be an amazing accomplishment. But I have three kids and a busy life at home. Ultimately, I knew it would be good for me and my family, and good for Mayo.”
“We treasure our employees, and we want them to grow at Mayo,” noted Timothy McAdoo, Executive Director at Mayo Healthcare. “At the same time, offering opportunities for career progression is ever more important to our rural healthcare facility as we face budget and recruitment challenges.”
In addition to Mayo’s exceptional staff and leadership, she credits her husband, Jason, and mother, Christine,
for their unwavering encouragement to pursue her academic goals from the time she finished her Bachelor’s degree eight years ago, through her recent certification as an LNHA “When I finally hit submit on the last online assignment they stood by my desk and cheered,” she remembers. Danielle’s inspiration to work in the healthcare field also arose from her relationship with her grandparents and great-grandparents.
Danielle has worked at other facilities and notes that Mayo Healthcare sets the standard for care, particularly since it is a non-profit organization. “At Mayo, it is not about volume of patients, it’s about quality. At the close of every day, I am happy with the care we provide. The community feel, intergenerational programming, diverse activities, and relationships provide me with a sense of satisfaction and appreciation for an organization that sets the bar in healthcare.”
Since 1939, Mayo Healthcare has been a local treasure in Northfield. Offering licensed residential care and memory care services for elderly adults, plus expert rehabilitation and a compassionate, supportive skilled nursing, Mayo Healthcare’s mission is to provide exceptional, high-quality health care that exceeds the expectations of our residents and families, and to promote and maintain an environment in which every
resident, every family member, and every staff member feels respected and valued.
